FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Series Kicks off Saturday at Gulfstream Park

Jul 31, 2020
$100,000 Dr. Fager, $100,000 Desert Vixen Highlight 11-Race Card
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $1.1 Million

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The $100,000 Dr. Fager and the $100,000 Desert Vixen will kick off the 2020 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series on Saturday’s 11-race card at Gulfstream Park.

First-race post time is noon.

The Dr. Fager and the Desert Vixen for fillies will be contested at six furlongs by juveniles sired by accredited stallions standing in Florida.

The Florida Sire Stakes program will also be highlighted by a $1.1 million jackpot pool guarantee for the 20-cent Rainbow 6. The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 17th consecutive racing program Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $1,303.10.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, including the Desert Vixen in Race 9 and the Dr. Fager in Race 10.

Todd Pletcher-trained Tamiami, who overcame a stumbling start to win her June 21 debut with a furious late rally, and Daniel Pita-owned and –trained Princess Secret, a debut winner who finished a troubled second behind highly regarded Papetu while facing males in a July allowance, will clash in the Desert Vixen.

Ralph Nicks-trained Breeze On By, a six-length debut winner last time out, and Juan Alvarado-trained Gatsby, who debuted with an upset victory over Golden Pal (subsequent runner-up in the Grade 2 Norfolk at Royal Ascot), are prominent in the 12-horse Dr. Fager field.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a six-furlong maiden special weight event for 3-years-olds and up in Race 6.  John Servis-trained Defeatsnotanoption, a $400,000 2018 Keeneland September sale graduate, is scheduled to make his debut. Luca Panici has the mount aboard the 3-year-old son of Honor Code.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,840.77 heading into Saturday’s program.
